Let me tell you why Italy is my absolute favorite place I have ever been…(this was my second adventure to Lake Como)
*first of all, it is gorgeous! It doesn’t matter what part you are in it is all beautiful
*next there are the people–they are kind even though I cannot speak any Italian
*then there is the food–and how it is always locally grown
*I love the geraniums that grow in all the window boxes because they were my Dad’s favorite
*the old architecture is magical
*that they still appreciate old crafts/skills like iron working, stone masonry, and wood carving
*that things are smaller and more modest
*that there are still days of the week where nothing is really open
*that they have delicious shortbread cookies and that is a completely acceptable breakfast
*people still make a cup of tea and read the paper there and that is my ideal morning routine
*finally its the feeling of family and conversation that matters. I love sitting around a dinner table for 2 hours eating and drinking and being technology-free
Being raised in a half European household (Dad having grown up in Hungary) being in Italy just feels right. I dream of moving there–and photographing American’s weddings there. Anyway, while I photographed an anniversary session there these are just my images for enjoyment. We visited many of the towns on the lake and besides Varenna, Bellagio was our other favorite. Taking the ferry and enjoying multiple trips to our favorite pizza and pasta restaurants this trip was everything dreams are made of!
