Katelyn and Craig what can I say….you were more than I could have hoped for in wedding clients 🙂 You are beautiful inside and out, love each other so much, and know how to just kick back and have a good time. I really loved being a part of your wedding day. I love being a maine wedding photographer in the fall. I enjoyed the red color choices and fall wedding decorations Katelyn and Craig used at their fall woodlands country club wedding. It was a great setting and perfect for her fall bridal bouquet and golden pumpkins. The bride and groom playing in the leaves were my favorite shots–it was so much fun and is such a cute fall wedding photo idea.
When I asked Katelyn how she met Craig this is what she said: “We’ve known each other since we were 11! We grew up friend’s of the family (no, we’re not related!) with Craig’s godparents being our “bridge.” Aunt Jeannine and Uncle Mike always have an annual pool party. Every time I saw Craig at the pool party, I thought he was cute but we didn’t usually chat much. Believe it or not, Craig was a pretty shy guy… Well, as we both got older, our paths started to cross more than just the annual pool party. I would hear Westbrook was playing Biddeford in basketball and try to sneak a peak of Craig! Every time I would go to OOB, I would hope that maybe Craig would also be cruising the strip with his friends! I took a family trip to Caribou – and enjoyed the county entertainment of snowmobiling, cribbage, snowshoeing, and relaxing with the family. I remember randomly thinking, “This trip would be better if Craig was here.” Surprising myself with that crossing my mind since I hardly knew the guy, I figured I should at least try “pursuing” him. We had never really talked on our own, but why not make an effort?! He came from an AWESOME, genuine family that I’d love to be a part of:) Getting back from Caribou, I organized a night at the comedy club. I asked Craig to join my friends. THRILLED he said “Yes,” and even more when he asked me to go to dinner BEFORE the show! We had a nice, comfortable dinner at Sebago Brewing Company and then joined my friends at the comedy club. We enjoyed ourselves, and laughed (who would have thought?!). After the comedy club, Craig came to my house and slept in the basement (… I was two floors away!). We got up early the next day and went skiing with my Brother and Dad. This trip seemed more special than the typical trips with my Dad and brother (no offense!)- something exciting yet comforting about having Craig there. He showed respect and being a gentlemen in subtle yet powerful ways… like when I almost fell off the chairlift, and he grabbed me and situated me safely on the chair. We took our first mountain picture, which became an annual tradition. After a great day of skiing, we watched the Patriots at Melissa and Fred’s. Although tired from the day, it was nice to relax and continue to get to know each other. I enjoyed the Gendron sisters’ and their boyfriends (now husbands). They had such a down-to-earth and fun nature. Craig and I talked the entire night. 48 straight hours and I wasn’t sick of the guy- now that has to mean something;-) He asked me to be his girlfriend (reading my mind!) and I couldn’t have been happier. I think my response was, “I thought you’d never ask.” **January 12, 2008** started a beautiful new chapter in both our lives. A little bitter sweet, we then both left for our next semester of school. We made it through 1.5 years long distance and then decided we never wanted to live apart again.”
Its funny how fate works isn’t it? These two were meant to be and time was just waiting for the right moment to bring them together. I love their story! When I asked Katelyn how they got engaged this is what she said: “When people would ask when we were going to get engaged, I’d say, “I’m not sure. The ball is in his court… and I’m just waiting for him to slam dunk it.”Well, Mr. Craig David Gendron did more than just SLAM DUNK IT! We visited Maine on Labor Day Weekend for what I thought was to see our new niece and nephew. We surprised his sister Melissa on Friday and we enjoyed seeing her and the little ones- Emma & Austin. We woke up Saturday morning and went to a trolley museum to shoot some photos. Amanda said she “wanted to add to her portfolio.” I had joked the night prior that people would see our professional photos and think we were engaged: “Ha, I guess they are our pre-engagement photos!” Well I totally wiped that thought out of my mind and then it came to fruition. After an hour of taking photos around the historic buses and trollies with Amanda and Eric, we walked up to another more remote area of the museum. Eric said to Craig, “Craig, can you get the 50 lens out of the bag?” Amanda had me strike a pose (which I now know was a discrete way to distract me;-) Craig grabbed something out of the bag and then got on one knee. I immediately starting crying/laughing. In a state of shock, I kept saying, “Is this a joke? Are you serious? Cause if it is, this is a SICK JOKE.” Finally Craig said, “Kate, would you just say yes?!” I responded, “YES! Would you just put it on my finger?!”” This story is a great representation of the two of them…family oriented, fun loving, and just pretty much perfect for each other.
