Katie and Chris had a fantastic wedding at the Falmouth Country club. We did all of our photos ahead of time in downtown Portland on the cobblestone streets and at the east end. I loved becoming friends with the bridesmaids and getting to know Katie’s personality filled sister from Vermont. Truly a wonderful group of people. Katie was a stunning bride and the florals from Marianmade Farm were gorgeous. Katie and Chris are a perfect match–they balance each other out so well and are always laughing. The groomsmen looked great in khakis, navy suit coats, and boat shoes, the women wore lace navy bridesmaid dresses and nude shoes. One of my favorite things about this wedding was the close relationship between the bride and her mom and her sister….what a group of strong amazing women. What a fantastic party with the Greek dancing and wonderful toasts from the maid of honor and best man, great food and just a fun atmosphere.
How did you two meet? Right after Katie graduated from college and moved down to Boston she came over to my apartment with one of her friends that grew up with my buddy. We didn’t start dating for another year after meeting.
How did the proposal go? I had an elaborate plan to propose at the top of a mountain while skiing, but once I got the ring I couldn’t wait. I made the decision while driving home from work. Picked up some champagne, walked around our old apartment nervously, then dropped on a knee and pulled the trigger.
What has been your favorite part of wedding planning? We spent a night in Portland a few weeks back where we did the tastings and scouted out the rehearsal dinner/after-party locations. It was actually pretty stress free and we had a great time.
What is the most important to the two of you about your wedding? I think we’re trying to avoid having a stuffy, super proper wedding. We want it to be loose and laid back, and for everyone to have an awesome time.
What is your favorite memory together? Tough to one after 5 years – I think probably buying our house, though.
What is your favorite date? We had an awesome dinner with great friends a few weeks back in Burlington, VT. Group dates count, right?
