This past Saturday I had the pleasure of capturing the memories from the wedding day of Shelby and Eric. Eric and his men were very fun to work with and Shelby and her girls were long time friends. Shelby is truly an amazing person and Eric is a great match. On our 90 degree day in Maine with a saving coastal breeze they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath and had their celebration and reception at Sebasco Harbor Resort in Phippsburg. Greg from Northeast DJ’s/Event Design was a fantastic DJ keeping the dancing rolling and the room beautifully lit with her coral accent color. The cake was from Two Fat Cats Bakery and the dress is from 2BeBridal Gowns. Her shoes were Badgly Mischka, they did DIY wedding florals with coral roses and stock, his cufflinks are custom maps, and the bridesmaid dresses are from Anthropologie.
I asked the bride a few questions before the wedding: How did you meet? “Eric and I met while stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I am a federal agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS; yes, like the TV show) and Eric was a trial prosecutor for the Marine Corp. Eric prosecuted one of my criminal cases, I successfully stalked him at the gym and the rest is history.”
How did he propose? “We traveled to Big Sur for a grueling trail race. After the race, super sore and tired, we went for a walk along a beautiful stream surrounded by the redwoods. Eric asked if I had stretched out properly after the run and began to do some lunges (I didn’t think anything of it). Then he asked again, when I turned around, he was down on one knee. I was so floored! And of course, said yes!” I would like to add that the groom’s ring was lightweight and inside of it was pressed wood from one of the trees in this park.
What is the most important thing on your wedding day (what do you value the most/hope to get out of your wedding besides your husband? “I think the most enjoyable thing about the planning process for us has been the prospect of a huge party with everyone we love. Being away from home with our jobs, having everyone in one place for such an important day will be such a blessing!”
Favorite part of wedding planning? “Hands down, my favorite part of wedding planning has been enjoying the whole process with my mom. Long telephone calls, simultaneous web browsing, shipping each other magazines etc.; it has been amazing!”
What didn’t you realize going into wedding planning? “I didn’t realize and was happily surprised when Eric wanted to be pretty involved in the planning process. He had opinions on things I would have never dreamed of and admittedly, it was fun to have his input. In the end, it will truly feel like our day!”
Let me say what an amazing party it was–and what wonderful families and friends they have. Thank you so much for letting me capture these moments and details from your coastal maine wedding.
