There are some reoccurring questions that come up when chatting with engaged couples It is wonderful when couples ask questions because they will be well informed in their wedding decisions. Here are some questions to ask your wedding photographer and my answers too them 🙂
What are high resolution digital files?
The term high resolution digital files came from wedding photographers only giving files that were large enough to print at a 4×6 size. When I say high resolution it is because they can be printed at any size that you wish. They are the same size the camera takes they have not been resized or limited.
What does it mean that we get the license to use the images?
I retain the copyright (ownership) of your images but I want you to feel free to use them anyway you wish so I provide you with a license for you to be able to print them and share them as you wish.
Will the images have a watermark on them?
The images are not watermarked because I want them to be yours.
Can we print the images?
You can print them anywhere you want at any size you want. I would recommend going through me for anything bigger than 8×10 as I use professional printers who make colors the same as I edited them and who use heirloom inks and papers.
Do you have a studio?
I have an office in my home which is a luxury apartment located at Peppermill Campus 2 Main St. Building 17 Apartment #509 Biddeford, Maine 04005. I do not have a shooting space studio–I generally use my house for that as I live in an old mill building and I have an open dining/living room.
How many images can we expect to see in an 8 hour wedding day?
The count varies from wedding to wedding but generally there are between 400-800 images.
Can we add additional hours of coverage?
Yes you can. Each additional hour is 400.00.
How long does it typically take to see the images?
The turn around time for your wedding is generally 2 weeks.
Will you use my images for advertising?
I do retain the copyright so that I am able to use them if there is an extraordinary image. I also enjoy sending things to publications and blogs.
What do you wear to a wedding?
Generally I wear a 3/4 length skirt and a blouse with flats.
Do you shoot in color and black and white?
Everything I shoot with my digital camera is color. I do convert images to black and white after the wedding. I love black and white images.
Will you be the photographer to photograph my wedding?
Unless you hired my associate which you would be very aware as you would have spoken with her directly I will be your wedding photographer.
Do you have backup equipment?
I do. I have multiple bodies and lenses.
Will you photograph any other events on my wedding day?
No. I only photograph one wedding a day.
Can I customize a wedding package based on my needs?
Absolutely. We can talk about what kind of coverage you want and what you need and build a package around that.
Do you offer wedding albums?
I do offer several different types of wedding albums. I offer a consumer album where you just pay the design cost (an hourly rate). I offer heirloom albums at three different sizes and I offer a custom bridal book album which is the middle price point album at 1,000.00. There are some packages that include a wedding album.
Do you provide retouching?
I can offer retouching but it is an extra fee. Generally couples look their best on wedding day and I try to capture that. I don’t like to manipulate images. Retouching includes things such as swapping someones face, adding a person, taking out rain drops or exit signs, making someone thinner, taking out blemishes or making adjustments to makeup, or reducing someones chest/bringing up their dress line.
What does it mean when it says edited files?
Each image is individually assessed and “edited”. The editing we are referring to is not retouching it is just basic adjustments so that it is ready for printing. Adjustments such as color correction, horizon straightening, exposure levels, cropping, darkening, and white balancing.
Do you charge for travel?
I do not charge for travel if it is a Maine wedding.
Are there any hidden fees?
I do not have any fees after the wedding….everything is spelled out in the contract which includes the details in the payment plans. The only thing you may decide to buy after the wedding (if it was not already included in your wedding contract) would be a wedding album. The average price for a 12×12″ wedding album is 2,100.00. It is custom designed to be exactly what you want and printed on heirloom materials.
