The overcast morning was quickly replaced by a beautiful sunny day at the Black Point Inn. The wedding of Olivia and Jonathan was nothing short of perfect. From a wonderful preparation room with a fantastic hair and makeup team (Kim Collins–The Makeup Diva) to an incredible on-site planner (Landace) who made the day smooth and relaxing for all. Celebrating with their closest family and friends it was clear that Olivia and Jonathan are perfect for each other in every way. As the best man said Olivia is a strong, gorgeous, intelligent, and super sweet woman who married a very kind hearted, funny, smart, and genuine guy. They choose a spectacular location equipped with lovely Maine views, a quaint intimate feel, and delicious food. The florist (Marcia Davis) brought in real birch trees to the reception site to match the arbor which was wrapped with gorgeous white and cream colored gardenias, roses, and peonies. A friend of Jonathan’s was the officiant. The men wore custom ties and Olivia even found matching socks. Olivia and Jonathan choose to stick with tans and cream colors for the bridesmaid dress (BHLDN) from and decor for the wedding. Olivia’s dress from Madeline’s Daughter had a beautiful lace overlay and fit her so perfectly it looked stunning! The wedding seating chart and the favors were lobster bottle openers from Grenon Trading Company in Bedford NH. The sharp neutral invitation suite was from Gus and Ruby letterpress in Portsmouth, NH. I couldn’t be luckier to have been a part of capturing the memories at this Black Point Inn Wedding as I am super privileged to be a Maine Wedding Photographer 🙂
How did you two meet? Jonathan: Olivia and I met in 2005 while we were both students at American University; I was in law school, and she was studying undergrad. In search of income, I responded to an e-mail advertising jobs at the university’s annual fund, “The Phonathon.” When I arrived, I instantly noticed my beautiful, fun, and professional supervisor — Olivia J. Clayton. We clicked instantly and became fast friends — but there was no chance for romance since we were both in relationships. Still, my semester working there was one of the highlights of my entire law school career, all because of Olivia and the sunshine she brought into my life at the time. (I even tried to take shifts when I thought she’d be supervising.) After school, Olivia and I stayed in touch over the years. When a chance encounter reconnected us six years later, we both jumped at the chance to explore the connection we’d always had, and our friendship grew into the incredible love we share today.
How did he propose? Olivia: Jonathan proposed at sunrise on Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park — the very first place the sun rises in the United States! He got down on one knee and told me he wanted to spend every sunrise and every sunset together for the rest of our lives. My decision was a no-brainer! 🙂
What is your favorite part of wedding planning? Olivia: Working together to make it happen. We made every single decision together, so we love knowing the end result will be a true reflection of us as a couple.
What is the most important to you about your wedding? Olivia: We want to be surrounded by people who support us and make us happy. We view those we’ve invited not just as guests — but as witnesses to something incredible and as the support system we will have throughout our entire marriage. So it is very important to us that everyone spends as much time together as possible throughout the weekend. We want our loved ones to get to know one another. And we want to be able to lock eyes with every single person in attendance knowing they love and support us both individually and together.
What is your favorite thing about your fiancée? OC: I could never pick just one thing. Jonathan is the most complex and beautiful person I’ve ever met! He is all at once creative, wise, hilarious, logical, loyal, kind, joyful, and handsome. Something I love about us as a couple is how in sync we are. It’s almost impossible to describe how well we click, but I wake up every day knowing I’ve without a doubt met my match. It’s kismet.
Jonathan: If I have to pick just one thing, it is Olivia’s smile, because it demonstrates the kindness she shows toward all people, the generosity she shares with the world, and the overall happiness and love she has for life. She truly is the sweetest, kindest, and most fun person that I’ve ever known. I’m so lucky to share my life with her and see that incredible smile every day.
