What a year! Kivalo Photography photographed 35 weddings and 5 elopements this year. It was a hard year–as many of you know I lost my little brother in a car accident in February and my Dad to an brain aneurism in May. To say that I am excited for the new year is an understatement–even though their anniversary deaths will be difficult. On the good side of this year Adam and I moved in together, I was a diamond photographer in the professional photography association (only 24 diamonds out of thousands), I landed my first magazine cover, was nominated for a big award, one of my best friends had a baby, and I launched a wonderful new Kivalo video team. Despite everything I am so blessed to have this career and I love every second of it!
Many of this years weddings were coastal Maine weddings where I photographed bridal parties, and couples out on the rocks waves crashing nearby. There were big bridal parties and no bridal parties, there were large families and tiny families, there was lace and taffeta, there were food stations and lobsters, fields and woods….enjoying all of Maine’s beauty and creating memories for a lifetime. I was fortunate to photograph some amazing barn weddings with beautiful rustic details. We coved thousands of miles in this season and enjoyed so many wonderful people. I couldn’t be luckier. I had the pleasure of photographing weddings in venues like The Inn on Peaks, Laudholm Farm, Barn at Flanagan Farm, Skiesta, The Westin, Black Point Inn, Portland Company, The Contented Sole, and Kingsley Pines Summer Camp it was a wonderful wedding year. Most importantly though there were wonderful moments captured–filled with laughter and beautiful relationships. Hopefully these images will inspire you with ideas for your Maine wedding 🙂
