The weekend couldn’t have been more perfect. Katie was a stunning bride with an amazing heart and personality. Her bridesmaids tons of fun and the best of friends. Marcus was charming and his groomsmen were hilarious. The weather was perfect….a taste of Maine with some fog and then clearing skies to sun for the ocean views. Their families were so sweet and welcoming. It was incredible to see an entire wedding of people from out of state. Hopefully the enjoyed the Peaks Island experience and made a vacation out of it 🙂 Honestly though Katie’s vision was a masterpiece and I hope they had as much fun as I did! Jason at the Inn on Peaks was fabulous to work with and Katie’s planner Brandi couldn’t have been more amazing to work with! Thank you to the two of them for making my job so wonderful and thank you to Katie and Marcus for being such enjoyable clients. Wishing you an eternity of happiness!
In Katie’s words: “Marcus and I met at a happy hour a few months after he moved to Philadelphia. He moved into an apartment that was next door to my coworker. He didn’t know anyone in Philadelphia so she invited him out. Happy hour was right after work so I was in scrubs and my hair was a mess. We started talking and the rest was history!”
How he proposed in Katie’s words: “Last year for New Year’s, we travelled to our favorite city, New Orleans. Our second day there, we spent the day touring the beautiful plantations. When we got back to our B&B in the French Quarter, we took a little nap before dinner. He woke me up from the nap and purposed with the most beautiful ring! It was the sweet, intimate and special. The best part was that we still had a few days in NOL to celebrate!”
Katie said “The most important thing for both of us is that our wedding day be a reflection of our personal style and the love we have for each other and our friends and family. We want to spend the day surrounded by our closest friends and family with good food, good music and lots of the love. We are huge foodies so we decided on a “tapas” style menu instead of a sit down meal. Guests will enjoy 3 hours of passed hor d’oeuvres and stations followed by desserts and a late night snack surprise. We want our guests to try new things, move around and enjoy Peaks Island throughout the day. We picked foods that were reflective of our style combined with native Maine flavors. Our goal is to minimize the “downtime” during the wedding and maximize the dancing and socializing.”
Katie said her “favorite part of the wedding planning has been the DIY projects! We involved both sides of the family and everyone had a job! My biggest project was the invitations. My mom made the table runners, bridesmaids’ purses and bridesmaids’ robes. The direction signs were made by Marcus’s parents and Marcus’s mom, Linda, made our beautiful wedding cake. It allowed us to have personal touches throughout the wedding and was lots of fun!”
