The remnants of the Hurricane ran through Kennebunkport Maine on the 4th of July. The wind wasn’t bad but it rained and rained and rained. What was to be an outside ceremony on the water became an inside ceremony, what was to be an outdoor cocktail hour became an indoor cocktail hour, and what were to be sunny photos became photos on the porch. The wedding party however, didn’t miss a beat. Everyone came to enjoy the marriage of Kim and Sam not the weather. So everyone had just as much fun as they would have if it didn’t rain. There was still the perfect amount of dancing, cake and ice cream, and Photo Booth fun to fill the Nonantum with love and joy. I had the pleasure of getting to know Kim’s parents because she was planning from California. They surely couldn’t be any sweeter, smarter, or more pleasant to be around….and then meeting Sam’s parents these families coming together is just perfect. I am looking forward to photographing their trips to Maine for many years to come 🙂 Being around such amazing people makes being a Maine wedding photographer the best job ever 🙂
How did you two meet? We met through our friend Mickey when we were in Washington, DC—we were friends for almost four years prior to dating, so we don’t really remember meeting. Romantic, I know. Our first date was to Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish in Woodley Park, DC.
How did he propose? He proposed in the mission gardens at Santa Clara University where we were both graduate students. It was very private.
What is your favorite part of wedding planning? Favorite part of wedding planning for me was getting to talk to my parents more frequently. For the two of us, it was hands down the cake tasting Gayle Forte sent us in the mail. Even making the cross country trip, the cakes she sent were amazing and we seriously savored each bite.
What is the most important to you about your wedding? Having everyone we love in the same spot at the same time. It’s really the most incredible day because everywhere we turn we’ll see someone special to us. We are also so excited for our wedding to be on the fourth of July! To top the night off with a fireworks show is the perfect way to end the evening.
What is your favorite thing about your fiancée? He makes me smile like no one else can. His goofiness and his amazing heart make me very happy!
